Updated 2016 rally schedule

Revised 2016 rally schedule

April 28 – May 1                      Evergreen Campground – Mt. Eaton           Roger and Martha Boice

June 8 – 12                                       GLAMARAMA 2016 – Goshen, Indiana Ken and Marilyn Kerik

June 23 – 26                               Mosquito Lake – Cortland, Ohio                 Bruce Horsfall

July 15, 16, 17           Bay City, Michigan, Joint rally with  Michigan Knights   Don & Kathy DuCharme and Ken & Marilyn Kerik

August 19-28                          Black Bear Campground, Salisbury, Mass.  Steve &Gerry Juliano

September 7-10                   Joint Rally with Tri-State Traveliers,             Mike and Judy Overbeck   at Lively Lady Campground, Aberdeen, OH

September 29 – Oct. 2         Loramie State Park, Minster, Ohio             Jerry and Margene Dwenger

Since some of our rallies will overlap months and our kickoff rally at Evergreen runs into early May, it will be considered our May rally. Likewise, due to the scheduling of two rallies in June, the Mosquito Lake rally will be prior to our newly added rally in July with the Michigan Knights.

We will be holding a joint rally with the Tri-State Traveliers in September, shortly after the N.E. trip. We will end our season at the Loramie State Park in Minster, Ohio, which will be our annual meeting with election of new officers etc.

Sorry for some confusion and making you make earlier decisions on rallies. Much is dependent on campgrounds availability and reservations.

Rally updates

Due to the special and added rallies/trips planned for this year, you need to be aware of different requirements for registration at both the July and August rallies, if you are planning to attend.

The July rally will be jointly held with the Michigan Knights on July 15, 16, 17, 2016 at the Midland, Valley Plaza Campground, 5217 Bay City Rd., Midland, Michigan 48642.

The July rally campground is owned by and just behind the Best Western Hotel in Midland, Michigan. It is on the Bay City Rd., just west of US-10. (From the South, you can take I-75 N to exit 162B to US 10. Take US 10 to exit 129. You will exit and turn west to the Hotel and Campground. The campground is about 3 hours North of Detroit. The weekend of this rally, the Tall Sailing Ships will be in nearby Bay City.

Reservations are already coming into the campground. If you plan on attending the July added rally, you must call 1-989-496-2159 for the contact person, Mr. John (Jack) Roberts, (6:30AM – 2:30PM) in order to make a reservation. You must indicate that you are with the Michigan Knights group to get the special rate. The Michigan Knights are also receiving this same information and urged to make early reservations. The camping fee per night is $35.00. The same for early arrivals. Check in time is 3:00PM. 30 and 50 amp service is available.

A $15.00 rally fee and registration form will be provided by the Knights and will need to be returned to Kathy DuCharme. Hopefully, I will have them at our first rally. You may cancel up to two days prior to the event. We will have pool access, exercise equipment etc. A block of King Bed rooms has been reserved for those unable to camp. A rate of 89.99/ night has been negotiated. You must reserve prior to July 5.

The August rally which will run from August 19-28, 2016 and will be based out of the Black Bear Campground located in Salisbury, Massachusetts, located at 54 Main St. Salisbury, Mass.

Reservations for this rally must also be made by each individual with the campground prior to May 1, 2016 to ensure the availability of sites. You must call 1-978-462-3183 to reserve a site or you can register online at reservations@blackbearcamping.com. Reservations can be cancelled

up to 14 days prior to the rally. You can make a deposit via credit card and pay the remainder upon arrival.

Additional information on this trip will be provided at the Evergreen rally at the end of April. There are over 200 sites at this level campground and 30 and 50 amp service is available. You may view their website for more information, attractions etc.

The September rally will be a joint rally with the Tri State Traveliers (TST) from September 7-10, 2016 at the Lively Lady Campground in Aberdeen, Ohio. Pre-Spring President’ Message

March 18, 2016

As the grasses here up North are starting to turn green and the Robins begin to look for worms, there are many recognizable signs of Spring and thoughts now turn to getting the Motor coach out of storage and ready for the MWC rally season.

Roger and Martha Boice, our hosts for our first rally, have been in Florida and should be on their way back to begin the planning for our first rally at Evergreen Campground in Mt. Eaton, Ohio. on April 28 to May 1, 2016. Registration forms will be coming out soon and we anticipate a large attendance at this familiar campground. We shouldn’t have to worry about rain, mud and lower temperatures and that is the reason for moving our first rally date back a couple of weeks. But we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Our first business meeting will be held on Sunday with updates on finances, rallies and other normal business items for the group to learn about. We received a note from Jane Roush, who has continued to be very active with the GLAMARAMA planning and hopes to be able to visit with us soon. Carol Barr has continued her recuperation in Florida and Clem Westbrook has managed to have another stent replaced. Others have managed to fair well and keep healthy.

Our Valentines Dinners in Bartow, FL. and Shreve, Ohio were well attended this Winter by members and it appeared that everyone enjoyed the Valentine get-to-gethers.

On another rally note, we have been in contact with the Michigan Knights re: a joint rally this year. We have been invited to rally with them on July-15-17, 2016 at Bay City, Michigan. This weekend is the Tall Ships Festival, where you can watch those large vessels enter the harbor and participate in the festival activities that weekend. Bay City is about 3 hrs. North of Detroit off of I75.

The sites have been reserved at a campground about 10 minutes from the festival.

Since this rally was not on our schedule, it would be added  as a July rally between the Mosquito Lake rally and the August rally trip to the Northeast(Boston area).

I need to know how many would be interested in this special rally, as I will need to give a number to the Knights at our first rally. We will need to make our own reservations with the campground. I will get more info on costs and the location shortly from Don and Kathy Duschene who are hosting for the Knights.

The Gilberts have informed us that the FMCA Perry rally had over 2,300 coaches in attendance with over three hundred new members in attendance.

Everyone stay healthy and hope to see you all again in April/May in Mt. Eaton.

Pres. Ken
