Pre-Spring President’ Message

March 18, 2016

As the grasses here up North are starting to turn green and the Robins begin to look for worms, there are many recognizable signs of Spring and thoughts now turn to getting the Motor coach out of storage and ready for the MWC rally season.

Roger and Martha Boice, our hosts for our first rally, have been in Florida and should be on their way back to begin the planning for our first rally at Evergreen Campground in Mt. Eaton, Ohio. on April 28 to May 1, 2016. Registration forms will be coming out soon and we anticipate a large attendance at this familiar campground. We shouldn’t have to worry about rain, mud and lower temperatures and that is the reason for moving our first rally date back a couple of weeks. But we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Our first business meeting will be held on Sunday with updates on finances, rallies and other normal business items for the group to learn about. We received a note from Jane Roush, who has continued to be very active with the GLAMARAMA planning and hopes to be able to visit with us soon. Carol Barr has continued her recuperation in Florida and Clem Westbrook has managed to have another stent replaced. Others have managed to fair well and keep healthy.

Our Valentines Dinners in Bartow, FL. and Shreve, Ohio were well attended this Winter by members and it appeared that everyone enjoyed the Valentine get-to-gethers.

On another rally note, we have been in contact with the Michigan Knights re: a joint rally this year. We have been invited to rally with them on July-15-17, 2016 at Bay City, Michigan. This weekend is the Tall Ships Festival, where you can watch those large vessels enter the harbor and participate in the festival activities that weekend. Bay City is about 3 hrs. North of Detroit off of I75.

The sites have been reserved at a campground about 10 minutes from the festival.

Since this rally was not on our schedule, it would be added  as a July rally between the Mosquito Lake rally and the August rally trip to the Northeast(Boston area).

I need to know how many would be interested in this special rally, as I will need to give a number to the Knights at our first rally. We will need to make our own reservations with the campground. I will get more info on costs and the location shortly from Don and Kathy Duschene who are hosting for the Knights.

The Gilberts have informed us that the FMCA Perry rally had over 2,300 coaches in attendance with over three hundred new members in attendance.

Everyone stay healthy and hope to see you all again in April/May in Mt. Eaton.

Pres. Ken
